Breast enlargement (augmentation) is one of the most popular surgical procedures in plastic surgery. It is performed when reconstruction is required after treatment of breast cancer, or as a form of aesthetic enhancement.
Augmentation mammoplasty is a surgical procedure that involves a silicone implant placement under the breast tissue so that the lactation function is preserved. Selecting the size and shape of the implants is done in consultation with Dr. Rudic.
The incision, depending on the assessment of the surgeon, is carried out under the breast, at the lower edge of the nipple or under the armpits and in any case, remains hidden.
The operation lasts about an hour in general anesthesia, and the patient is released home after 1 to 3 days.
Recovery takes a few weeks. The return to social life is possible within 2 – 3 weeks, and it is recommended to avoid physical activity for up to 6 weeks, as well as wearing a compression bra in the healing process.
Breast lift (mastopexy)
Breast lift (mastopexy) is a surgical procedure for reconstruction and elevation of breasts, relaxed due to aging, breastfeeding or sudden weight loss, thus achieving the effect of a youthful and sound appearance.
The intervention includes removing excess skin, nipple reduction, and reconstruction, and placing in a higher position.
Mastopexy does not interfere with breastfeeding, but it is recommended to be carried out after the last planned pregnancy since the problem may recur during pregnancy.
The operation is performed in general or local anesthesia and lasts 2 – 3 hours.
The incision is made under the nipples, on the lower part of the breast and can be of different shapes depending on the method of the procedure.
Hospitalization lasts 3 – 5 days, and recovery lasts 4 – 6 weeks when it is recommended to wear a special compression bra and avoid physical activity.
Breast reduction (reduction mammoplasty)
Breast reduction (reduction mammoplasty) is performed most often for functional reasons since large breasts cause difficulties such as back pain, difficulties in physical activity and sleeping.
This surgical procedure eliminates fat tissue, connective tissue, and excess skin, and the nipples are reconstructed in accordance with the new breast appearance.
The operation lasts 2 – 3 hours under general anesthesia. The incision is circular around the nipples or at the lower part of the breast.
Most often there is no need for hospitalization.
The recovery lasts for 4 – 6 weeks while wearing a special elastic bra and avoiding physical activity is recommended.
Vaginal reconstruction
Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure for reducing the labia or enhancement of external female genitals. Often it is a functional problem because this condition carries with it difficulties in sexual intercourse, hygiene difficulties, and frequent irritation.
The procedure lasts about 45 minutes and can be performed in local or general anesthesia.
There are several techniques to perform labiaplasty and each of them provides excellent results.
Recovery takes 10 to 14 days, and after 3 weeks it is possible to resume to normal sexual activity.
Vaginoplasty
Vaginoplasty is an operative method for vagina rejuvenation, reconstruction of shape and tension that have been lost due to aging or delivery.
The procedure lasts about an hour and is carried out under general anesthesia.
Vaginoplasty narrows the vaginal canal and approaches the pelvic floor muscles, which improves the control of urinary sphincter and improves satisfaction during sexual intercourse. It is also possible to eliminate the scar of episiotomy.
Recovery takes 10 to 14 days and the continuation with normal sexual activity is possible after 4 – 6 weeks.
